EdgeFinder Sports Cookie Policy

1. What cookies and local storage are
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser and that are sent back to the site on each visit. Local storage (localStorage) is space in your browser where a page keeps information that is not sent to the server. Both are used, for example, to keep you signed in or remember your language.
2. What we use today
EdgeFinder Sports (app.edgefindersports.app) uses only necessary cookies and storage, or preferences you choose, all first-party. We do not use analytics or advertising cookies, our own or third-party.

Anti-spam check (CAPTCHA). On sign-up, password recovery and after several failed sign-in attempts we use our own "proof of work" check: your browser solves a small computation. It uses no cookies, loads no third-party scripts and sends no data to any external provider.
Hosting provider protection. If our hosting provider (Vercel) detects unusual traffic, it may ask your browser for an automatic check and store a security cookie for about 1 hour. It is necessary to protect the site.
3. Third-party content
- Team and league crests. Crest images load from ESPN's image server (
a.espncdn.com, United States). To show them, your browser connects to that server, which receives your IP address and browser type, as with any image. We do not send it the page you are viewing and, as of this policy's date, that server sets no cookies. - Sign in with Google or Microsoft (if you use it). Those buttons take you to Google's or Microsoft's page, which uses its own cookies under its own policies. We do not control them.
- Links to other sites (for example, responsible-gambling help) load nothing from third parties until you click them.
4. Do we need your consent?
In Ecuador, the Organic Law on Personal Data Protection (LOPDP) has no cookie-specific rule, so we apply its general principles. The cookies and storage above are necessary to provide the service you ask for (signing in, protecting your account, remembering the language, theme or searches you choose). They rely on the performance of the contract or of steps you request and on our legitimate interest in a secure, working service (art. 7, items 5 and 8, and art. 9 LOPDP), not on consent.
That is why we do not ask you to accept cookies: there are no optional cookies to accept or reject. You can see this information at any time under "Cookie preferences" in the footer.
5. If we add optional cookies in the future
If we add analytics, campaign measurement or advertising tools:
- Before they load we will show a notice with "Accept all", "Reject all" and "Settings" buttons. Accepting and rejecting will be equally easy and visible, with no pre-ticked boxes.
- We will not load those tools until you accept them. If you reject them or make no choice, the site works the same.
- You will be able to accept per category (analytics, advertising) and withdraw consent at any time, as easily as you gave it, under "Cookie preferences" in the footer (art. 8 LOPDP). When you withdraw, we will delete those cookies from your browser.
- Before enabling them, we will update this policy with each cookie's name, purpose, duration, provider and country.
- We will store your choice in a necessary cookie (
ef-consent) for 6 months and keep a record of it (date, policy version, chosen categories, part of your IP address and browser type) as proof. After 6 months, or if our cookies change, we will ask again.
6. How to manage or delete cookies
You can view, block or delete cookies and local storage in your browser settings. If you block the necessary cookies you will not be able to stay signed in and the site will not remember your language or theme. Clearing local storage deletes your saved scanner searches in that browser.
